Tips For Running A Home-Based Business

Making a success out of any home business enterprise is only possible if you have the necessary information to make it the success that you have planned from the beginning. The following tips are written to help you in your home based business venture. Read and absorb them all and find them as helpful as they were designed to be.

For example, if you entertain clients by eating out with them, you can deduct this from your taxes. The costs of these meetings are legitimate, tax-deductible business expenses. Always make sure that you are only writing off meetings that are with actual clients, or individuals that you are hoping will become clients, because other meals and entertainment opportunities are not tax-deductible.

Get used to saving receipts for everything. Every little expense related to your home business enterprise is deductible on your federal taxes, but you need to be able to prove it. In the event of an audit, you are going to need every scrap of paper related to any deductions that you claim.

When you work at home, it is important to define your time. You can not work twenty four hours a day, seven days a week. At times it can be challenging to work at home because the work is always there. You need to discipline your self about work times and fun times. If you work too long it is quite possible you will burn yourself out.

Do not fall for any hype about get-rich-quick, home-based business kits. A successful home-based business takes time and perseverance to develop. Any promises about instant success or riches are scams. The only people making money would be the scammers who sell you their business kit. So, save your money and ignore these promises.

Develop the discipline to set aside a certain amount of your earnings to pay income taxes. Even though home business owners get a decent number of tax write-offs, there is a very good chance that you will still need to pay something to the tax man. Make sure to set aside a portion each month to avoid taking a huge cash-flow hit all in one month.

Promote your home business enterprise by running a contest on your web site. It will attract potential customers to your page and possibly result in new sales. Get the word out about your promotion by advertising on social media sites, contest boards, ezines and search engines. The return you receive, will be well worth the extra effort involved.

Save all your receipts if you are operating a home based business. A home based business is a bona fide business, so business supplies and transportation expenses can be deducted from your business taxes. Make it a habit to put every receipt into a designated spot for storage, so that at tax time you'll be sure to have any that you might need. If you do not save your receipts, your tax burden is going to be larger than it has to be.

Find out what competitors are charging for their services. Using the information you gather, figure out how much you should be charging. Know what your value is and don't be afraid to charge it.

You have decided to start a work from home business. The first thing you do is head for the internet. But soon you realize it is not so simple. You are presented with an endless number of possibilities. How to find the right website or platform for your business? The most likely source is through your network of friends and acquaintances, who pass on their experiences to you.

Utilize the information provided to build your online business into a successful and thriving venture. If you take these tips and apply them to your business, you are sure to reap the many benefits of the vast knowledge provided. Enjoy the luxury of working for yourself in your work from home business.

Until Next Time,

Tuesday Lifehacker tip:

It's getting cold outside and the holiday season is quickly approaching.  Follow this Tuesday Lifehacker tip to get a jump on your shopping for the season.

Anytime during the Fall is good to buy the following items:

A Car - New models come out during the summer, which makes the end of the year a good time to go car shopping.

Cookware and kitchen accessories - The holiday season starts earlier and earlier every year.  During the season all cookware goes on sale for the holidays.

Digital cameras - check out older models for a better price.

Gas grills and air conditioners - no surprises here.

Plants - If you have an indoor plant or greenhouse you can get really good prices on plants as the air cools down.

Toys and games - holiday sales.

Wedding supplies - off season makes getting good deals a plus.

November buys:

Appliance - Most new models come out during this season.

Candy - You can stock up after Halloween.

TV's and other electronics - Black Friday and Cyber Monday

Tools - November is a great time to pick up needed tools for your winter DIY projects at home.

November is a great time to buy some of these needed items but keep in mindful of Black Friday deals and Cyber Monday deals as well.

Thursday Lifehacker tip:

You have a few friends that invite you to play every game under the sun.  I do too. Those new apps and games even get listed in your news feed.  Pretty annoying...

If you're not one to like apps and especially flooding of your news feed, you can permanently end this flood once and for all.

1. Go click on the drop down menu attached to the post itself.

2. Select "Hide all from [app name]." (Note: if you're using the new interface, you may have to select "Hide" and then choose to block all from that app.)

3. Enjoy a clear news feed (no more app clutter)

If you ever need to unblock the app go to Facebook settings, Blockings, and remove the block on the app.  Facebook actually makes the process simple.

Pacers opened up with a win against the Magic. It was great to see one of my favorite college basketball players of all time - Victor Oladepo.

Thank God it's Monday!

More inspiration from ET the Hip Hop Preacher.

I highly recommend you "subscribe" to his YouTube channel for daily motivation and success tips.  Instead of saying thank god it's Friday, he put together a series of thank God it's Monday videos to help motivate and inspire us to be all that we can be during the week.

My take away from today's video:

1. Go Fast - There is a sense of urgency here.  Work hard because anything can happen with hard work and dedication.  Don't wait until tomorrow to get it done, do it today and do it fast.  Pick up your pace!

2. Go Hard - Success is hard, it's not for the weak and uncomitted.  Success weeds out the weak.  Nothing in life is easy and if you truly want success you will have to work your back side off.

3. Finish it - Finish whatever you start, do it with a sense of urgency, and work hard at it.

4. Win the day - Master your work by getting it done fast, work hard be tough and finish the job.  Win the day!

Step into your POTENTIAL...

I believe in you.

You can do this.

Go win the day.

See you next time...
